I live in a tiny town in Arkansas on a lake with my long time boyfriend and our two dogs. 44 years old this May.
Favorite Music:
Really the only kind of music I don't like are country novelty songs where they tell a story, very hard rock and opera. The rest I like. Even rap.
Favorite Books:
I've read just about everything on the spiritual buffet so am a bit bloated in the book department these days. Too many faves to mention.
Favorite Movies:
Vanilla Sky, Wedding Crashers, The Matrix, On Golden Pond, Grease, Dirty Dancing, Fight Club, American Beauty, Pay it Forward, The Usual Suspects, Kapax, Thumbsucker, Wallstreet, What About Bob, American History X, The Color Purple, I Heart Huckabees, Bladerunner, Nicholas and Alexandra, The Sound of Music, Wizard of Oz, The Bourne Trilogy, Must Love Dogs, The Notebook, The Breakup.
Favorite TV Shows:
Beverly Hills 90210, Grays Anatomy, Wildfire, Law and Order CI and SVU, Bad Girls Club, American Idol, Dancing with the Stars, Project Runway, Oprah, Golden Girls, Frasier, Will and Grace, America's Next Top Model, Biggest Loser, The Bachelor, E!, Daily Top 10, O'Reily Factor, Fox News, Any E! True Hollywood Story, Ugly Betty, Survivorman, Sex and the City, Seinfeld.
What do you do to make a living?
I work at home as a Business Development Manager for a Technical Recruiting firm and live in sweatpants and pjays.
What kind of hobbies do you have?
I love to walk, knit, cook, read and watch gobs of TV. Have read just about everything on the spiritual buffet. Am a total pop culture junkie.
In a world where you were pursuing your deepest, most heartfelt callings, what would you be doing?
Publishing a book I am writing with two girfriends called "Turning: Divorce as a Right of Passage," which we are currently working on a proposal for.
What is the most important thing you have learned in your life?
To be authentic.
Describe a belief that you previously held and then subsequently changed. What caused you to change your mind?
That I didn't need God in my life at all because I could just "be a good person" on my own. Misery changed my mind. Calling out to God in misery, He showed up, and I realized that it was His (seeming) absence in my life that was leading me further into misery.
Who do you admire most in the world (past and/or present) and why?
Jesus past and present because of his ability to be such a loving rebel. I have no feeling of wanting to go back in time to meet Him as I experience Him as being accessable to me now as he was to the 12 back in the day and at that intimate a level.
At this turbulent moment in history, what do you think is the most important thing a person can do to help humankind (and the rest of the planet) survive the many dangers that confront us?
Start with yourself and be the change you'd like to see in the world. Realize there is no one out there victimizing me in any way, neither is anyone coming to save me. Not getting caught up in the Law of Attraction for it's consumer appeal. Taking things one moment at a time and BREATHING.
What are your answers to the big questions: Who are we? Where are we from? Why are we here? Where are we headed?
We are parts of God's mind thinking we are here because we want to be here and are headed back to God as soon as we are ready to go. In more Earthly terms, we're having incarations, we picked to come her and learn on the Earth school and I truly think we are headed for some lovely flowering of consciousness which will lead to John Lennon's vision in "Imagine."
Why did you decide to join this community?
I read an awesome piece David Sunflower wrote on James Twyman which was written 10 years ago and loved not only the expose portion, but his comments about his agenda. His candor and testicular fortitude were healing and interesting to me.
Considering the interesting experiences you've had, I think you've come to the right place. NHNE regularly calls into question the endless stream of perfect masters/teachers/gurus and their deluded/bamboozeled spokespeople. While I respect the right/need of folks to promote and follow whatever path calls to them (real or bogus), I cherish the company of others who are more interested in cleaning up the mud (in ourselves and our world) than creating more and spreading it around.
Hello Katie! Welcome. Interesting profile. You have a lot of interesting things to say. Thanks for your kind comments concerning the Twyman report. That was a hard one to write. I look forward to getting to know you better.
