Spiritual Activism

I teach high school kids Spanish...whilst I talk with them about what they believe...(other than in cellphones, ipods and the usual teenage hormonal/testosterone days & nights & football season stuff that, I have to admit, I am fully engaged with them about...). The weather has turned cold here...and so my body is whining, but my spirit is cool...this is a blog from my http://bluesvues.blogspot.com - and I'm a blog nut, so I also have…

just getting started...and now, perhaps 7 or so years later, it's recommended for home studies and has the most amazing amount of info one could assemble in one tight little space. Check it out, if you have a chance, yes?

Thanks for the compliment!
I've had 4 digital cameras over the last 7 years or so. My first one was the Canon SD110 (Elph), a 2 MP camera. I took tons of shots with it over the 2 years I had it. It had no macro mode so I could not get as close as I wanted. It also had a great movie mode, but it did not record sound. The most important feature was that the camera was small enough to fit in my pocket so I could take it anywhere.
Next came an SD210. It had a macro mode and the movie mode recorded sound. Also, it was even more compact. I finally could take macro shots.
Then I got an SD410. It could take macro shots where the lens was almost touching the subject. It's a great camera. The main shortcoming was that I could not take good distance shots. It only had a 3x optical zoom.
That's where my current camera comes in. It's a Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ3. I did not want to leave Canon, but the main limitation was optical zoom and they still haven't released a compact camera with good zoom. The Panasonic is a little bulkier than the Canons, but it has a 10x optical zoom with optical image stabilization! It's been great. I took it on vacation and was able to capture parrots and monkeys high up in the trees and lots of other shots that would have been impossible with my Canon cameras.
Then, I finish the shots with some digital post-processing to increase the dynamic range and the brilliance of the colors. A good image has a full range from deep black shadows to bright white highlights.
I used to do this with Photoshop Elements but it was harder than it had to be. I didn't realise this until recently when I learned how to use Google's free Picasa program. It's great for the most common type of adjustments you need to make like straightening a picture, cropping it, adjusting the lighting and dynamic range, fixing color casts, and warming or cooling the color temperature. I recommend it highly for these functions.
In addition Picasa lets you create and upload albums to your own Google albums. Overall, it's pretty good. I would like more control over the appearance of the albums, but I'm sure they will add those features eventually.
Blessings,
Daniel
So the best thing about Anthony Bourdain is that his show isn't really just about food. If those of you who have never seen it, catch it once ot twice; it's about embracing other cultures. Plus he is very dry and funny. I think it is a very unique program.
So do you teach public school?
