I'm a musician and visual artist. My soulmate, Jonathan, and I love to camp, work out, and explore socio-political concerns, nature, mysticism, and the nature of the quantum universe.

I love to listen to meditation music by Deuter, Eno, Vangellis, and so many other new artists whose names I haven't even learned yet! (I also love to create my own improvisational meditation music, and I try to play music in the Cambridge and Boston subways and streets as often as I can).

Christmas on Division Street

almost anything by Woody Allen

Now
What do you do to make a living?
* perform music professionally and in the subways and streets of Boston and Cambridge, MA
* work part-time spring/summer/fall as a street performance sound monitor for the Cambridge Arts Council
* occasionally I sell my visual artwork
What kind of hobbies do you have?
I love to play music, paint and design beadwork. I eat raw food almost exclusively, so I spend a bit of time online conversing with raw foodists and checking out raw food websites, as well as news sources like NHNE and Daily KOS, etc., and a number of spiritual websites, such as Adyashanti.org and Shinzen.org.
In a world where you were pursuing your deepest, most heartfelt callings, what would you be doing?
Ideally, I'd be playing music a bit more than I do at present. I wouldn't change my lifestyle too much; I love playing street music and sharing my music with a broad public audience in this way. The only thing I'd change is I'd have even more energy, easier access to resources, and greater coping mechanisms to deal with the stresses of life that interfere with creativity and spontaneity.
What is the most important thing you have learned in your life?
It's absolutely imperative that we let go of this terrible poison of fake positive energy and new age blame that has all but paralyzed our society. This cultural orthodoxy of mandatory cheerfulness at all times and avoiding talking about or recognizing darkness and negativity at all costs is bringing America to its knees and is costing us our rights and freedoms. We must learn that ignoring the deep problems that face us will not solve them, and the 'law of attraction' is a giant Trojan horse of a concept that we would do well to examine and replace at our earliest convenience.
Describe a belief that you previously held and then subsequently changed. What caused you to change your mind?
I used to believe that the Democrats were the party of the people, with a populist platform that was vastly more humane than that of the Republicans. I think this was true in the '60s and '70s, but ever since Reagan, both parties have moved so close to each other in terms of human rights, civil rights, social programs, economic policies and so forth that I really see very little difference on either side now. It's all just a big lovefest between corporate America and the parties they own: corporate fascism, growing stronger every day. A sad and sobering situation.
Who do you admire most in the world (past and/or present) and why?
I admire all of the little people who we'll likely never hear about in the history books who suffered unspeakable horrors and mind-numbing oppression, but just kept keeping on in spite of it all. They give me hope.
At this turbulent moment in history, what do you think is the most important thing a person can do to help humankind (and the rest of the planet) survive the many dangers that confront us?
Awaken to WHAT IS, to the need to go deeper than just surface judgments about one another that are ultimately based solely on ancient mythical psycho-spiritual traditions and concepts. The challenge is to be a force for good in our communities and in the world to help those who are oppressed by circumstances outside their control such as traumatic events, government corruption. What would happen if everyone who could made a commitment to go on a personal spiritual retreat -- a camping trip or a road trip, or even just get away for a day-- to take the time to ask him/herself: 'what am I called to do? What small part can I play?"
What are your answers to the big questions: Who are we? Where are we from? Why are we here? Where are we headed?
I am here to realize that I AM here. Easier said than done!
Why did you decide to join this community?
Oh! An easy one-- thanks! I joined because NHNE has been the single most extraordinarily positive, helpful, credible and reputable, as well as insightful and challenging source of information and news, and it has helped me to grow and gain understanding in so many ways.

Finally, A New Post

Wow, some blogger I am! My blogging style seems to be 'bluster and fizzle.' I have a tendency to start out with a bang and then lose interest somewhat. Well, in truth I have been kind of busy lately. I've got a new band, which means more time away from the computer playing music, as well as more time profitably (hopefully) spent on the computer doing things like making business cards and brochures. I haven't been doing as much of my own solo ambient electronic flute music lately, but I'm excited… Continue

New Years Eve -- Warm and Toasty

This is the third day of my juice fast, and I'm feelin' real good; starting to feel the glow, and thankfully, no detox discomfort at all. I have been pretty easy on myself so far, allowing myself to have more fruit juice and less vegetable juice; that's all going to slowly change as I get deeper into the fast.

Here's what I had to drink yesterday and the day before:

12/29/07:
pineapple/greens juice: 22 oz.
carrot/yam w/cinnamon juice: 12 oz.
agave limeade: 30 oz.

Juice Fast-- Officially Day One

It's 9:25 pm and I've had 102 ounces of liquid today, most of it fresh juice made in my juicer! What wasn't fresh included limeade made with a little bit of agave nectar, and a kombucha drink from the store. I feel great! What I'm having right now is the most gorgeous shade of pink, but it's not a very 'pretty' taste: it's cabbage/potato/beet juice made with a clove of garlic. I will say this: it tastes better than I had thought it would! Never mind... it's worth it. It's not all torture and

I completed the painting 'pyramid' tommorrow I start painting 'the bee', that is my next subject I want to do. I just wish I had a printer so I could print an image and work from that, or even watch a live bee!

Hi Sharrhan, Yes that was him. However, I forgot to ask my partner about posting the photo. I don't think I have a photo of myself, and hes sleeping. So, I found a photo of a goldfish much like the one I have. Well, its family, even if shes not human! Do you think anyone will notice or mind?

Sharrhan,

Great profile! While I enjoyed reading everything you had to share, I especially liked your answer to "What is the most important thing you have learned in your life?" Your enthusiasm for NHNE was also delightful. And I've noticed you've brought some of your friends along. That's great!

Anyway, just wanted to get a welcome message posted on your page -- and also remind you to let me know how I can get my hands on your album. Your music is lovely.
